What if you could be in total control of how you feel and not suffer from out of control emotions? How much happier would your life be.

Do your emotions just seem to exist and come about for no apparent reason? Does it seem impossible to control how you feel even though it upsets those around you?

What if there was a secret to your emotions, that takes time to learn and master, but means you will never have that out of control feeling again.

There is, and the secret is that your thoughts create your emotions. Even if you have no memory of having a thought and it does not feel like you are thinking at all, it is still true. You have a thought, which creates chemicals and creates emotions. It is so instantaneous that in most cases you don’t realise it has happened.

Steps to master your emotions
  1. Recognise the emotion- Do I feel sad, angry, frustrated, upset, bitter. Name the emotion so you can start seeing your emotional patterns. What is your most common emotion? E.g. I am angry at my partner
  2. Recognise your thoughts- Each time you have an emotion ask yourself what did I think to bring this on. (It is never nothing) e.g. I thought that he does not love me because he wants to spend time with his friends
  3. Challenge those thoughts- in most cases your thoughts are either not real, or not true. (However if they are real and true then it may be the situation you are in that needs to change) e.g. I know that he does love me
  4. Introduce new thoughts – these will challenge the old ones and produce a new chemical signal in your brain. E.g. He does love me and I am grateful he spends time with his friends so I can spend time with mine and we have new and interesting things to bring back to the relationship

This process takes time to develop and can be fast tracked by a coach or course through Canberra Personal Development to help you to identify your thoughts more quickly and develop new thought patterns to counteract them.
